Hamdy Rakha is the Manager of Regional Business Development for the Middle East and Africa at ABS, based in Khobar, KSA With nearly 35 years of maritime industry experience, he helps shipowners, operators, and offshore stakeholders meet their classification, regulatory, and technical requirements while supporting Saudi growth initiatives. An alumnus of the Marine Engineering of the Arab Academy for Science, Alexandria, Egypt, Hamdy earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1996. and Marine chief Engineer in 2006. He spent 11 years at sea, sailing on bulk carrier, Malti purpose and ro-Ro passenger Ships, rising to Chief Engineer. Hamdy joined ABS in 2011, starting in Alexandria before taking on assignments in Dammam Saudi Arabia, leading team. In his current role, he leads business development efforts, working closely with industry partners to advance innovation and compliance across the marine and offshore sectors.
