Dr Hanan Farhat
Technical Manager for Asset Health

Dr. Hanan Farhat is recognized as one of the leading figures in materials and corrosion
engineering in the Middle East, with over 30 years of distinguished experience in the oil and gas
sector. She currently serves as Technical Manager for Asset Health at Wood Qatar. Previously,
she was Senior Research Director and founding director of Qatar’s first ISOaccredited Corrosion
Center that was international recognition as a Center of Excellence.
Her career spans technical service management, riskbased inspection (RBI) leadership, and
senior inspection and materials engineering roles. She has also held academic faculty
appointments in engineering and served as a lead materials and corrosion subject matter expert
for QatarEnergy. Dr. Farhat holds a PhD and MSc in Mechanical Engineering (Corrosion and
Welding Metallurgy) from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, and a BSc in Materials and
Metallurgical Engineering from Tripoli University, Libya. She is a registered Canadian
Professional Engineer (PEng).
Dr. Farhat is currently Chairperson of the Qatar Forum for Corrosion and Materials Engineering
and the Qatar AMPP Chapter, representing the State of Qatar in several international standards
organizations. She is also the founder and former Chairperson of the Qatar Women Engineers
Association (QWEA), and the founder and current Chairperson of MENA Women in Engineering.
Her leadership and advocacy have earned her multiple awards for advancing women engineers
in Canada, Qatar, and across the MENA region
